I’m Kelsey, leading lady of Plum Joy Photography! I am so glad you’re here and interested in working with me. I am eager to know your story and ready to embark on our journey together. But first you may be wondering who the heck this chic is...
I am a wife, creative, Christ follower, cat mom, avid coffee drinker, terrible dancer, and a lover of sweet love stories. I married my best friend, Brad in 2019 and became a Michigan resident just a few days later. Moving to the mitten was a little terrifying for a bit, but in this short time I have made some beautiful friendships and connected with the most amazing people. This experience has brought my business to new heights. I have learned so much about who I am, my vision, and what I want the Plum Joy experience to look like.
My love for photography started when I was 12. From there, the passion grew quickly. Much of my teen years were spent forcing my siblings to model for me in front of a sky-blue backdrop I hung anywhere and everywhere. (Thankfully) I eventually stepped away from the extreme touch-up and sepia filters and really grew into my craft. What started as a little biz, taking friend's senior photos every chance I could to six years later and getting to make so much magic with stunning couples, families, and entrepreneurs!
Many of you may wonder where my name comes from. It all is because of one incredible woman, my mom, Stacie. Mom was someone that lit up any room. She had a beautiful spirit that was infectious. She was supportive of my dreams and passions, no matter how crazy they were. She was one of my biggest supporters when I fell in love with photography.
My mom loved the Lord, and her family fiercely. She was the most compassionate person I knew, she would give you the clothes off her back if needed. With having five children, not only made it here insanely patient but it was also safe to say she was no stranger to a delivery room. When I was just a girl Mom started her doula business, which she named Plum Joy Doula. She loved helping mamas bring their little ones into the world.
Mom was the biggest fighter, her faith and her family were her backbone, and that was all she needed. In March of 2016, she went home to be with Jesus after almost a two year fight with brain cancer. She was a warrior to the end! Now, her legacy lives on in her children, family and friends. To honor her, I chose to bring a little bit of her passion into mine. Making my name Plum Joy Photography means so much and one small way I can have her hear while I live out my dream!
